Freenas nextcloud9/27/2023 where YOUR_INTERFACE is the name of the network interface you're using on your FreeNAS box (em0, igb0, etc.). ![]() This script installs and configures Nextcloud and all its dependencies.Ĭode: iocage create -name "$" In addition, if you're using SSL for your jail, $FQDN needs to resolve to your jail from inside your network this is something you'd set up in your router configuration (in pfSense, for example, you'd set it up as a host override under Services -> DNS Resolver). You'll specify which of these is the case in the script's configuration file. Other DNS hosts can be used, but will likely require manual configuration. Cloudflare has such an API, and provides DNS hosting for free. Your DNS host has an API that's supported by Caddy, allowing automated updates to your DNS records. You have a fully-qualified domain name ("$FQDN") that points to your jail, and the jail is reachable from the public Internet with ports 80 and 443 open to the jail-that is, if an Internet user browses to they'll reach your jail. For this to happen, one of two things must be true: This script will optionally obtain, install, and renew a certificate from Let's Encrypt. My thought/hope is that by scripting the installation and setup, a lot of the PEBCAK-type errors that come up in such a complex installation can be avoided. So, I figured, why not write another one? The difference between this method and the others is that this method employs a script to create the jail, install all the relevant packages, and configure them. Unbound 1.8.3 replaced with Pi-hole 5.11.It seems like there are lot of guides here on installing Nextcloud, and a number of people reporting problems with many of them. Google office apps were, when I last used them, quite limited in comparison to Office 365. On the other hand, the slideshow on the web page does suggest that OnlyOffice is more capable that Office 365 in a number of areas. I wouldn't be surprised if that were true with OnlyOffice as well. That might be true, but if I recall my own experiences with LibreOffice, it had difficulty with 'smart documents' that included any VBA scripting. There's a bold statement on this web page, from Ascensio System SIA, the owners of OnlyOffice, of '100% compatibility with MS Office formats'. According to this table, the Community Edition is missing web editors, document comparison and content controls, but I don't think the average user is likely to miss those features. That's fantastic for a home or small business such as a not-for-profit that can't afford to pay the per-user annual fee for Office 365. For instance, the Community Edition (that's installed) is free to use for up to 20 users. Part of the reason for this I believe are the underlying structures required to support the integration.įrom what I've seen so far, there seems to be quite a lot of potential with OnlyOffice. There have been a number of attempts and some have got quite close, but haven't quite hit the mark. ![]() I know there's been keen interest amongst FreeNAS Nextcloud users in getting OnlyOffice integration happening. I've not even had a chance to try out the mobile and desktop apps yet. I've not actually used the suite much at all at this stage, apart from making sure I can fire up the office applications from within Nextcloud and save documents with some basic edits back into Nextcloud. Microsoft and Google products somehow seem to insidiously find their way into our lives and I think it's almost impossible to extricate ourselves from this plight.
